About our Church

Arnside Methodist Church is a warm and friendly Christian community seeking to worship God, grow in discipleship, and serve our local community.

Our minister is Rev. David Stretton and you can contact him by telephone on 01524 761397 or by email: methodistdavid@gmail.com

OUR SERVICES

We meet each Sunday morning at 10.30am. This is often a more traditional style of service but in recent months we have introduced elements such as testimony, a cafe -style setting and contemporary worship from time to time.

Every two months on a Friday evening at 7pm we have our Praise and Prayer service. This has modern songs led by the Worship Band from Kirkby Lonsdale, prayers and readings and an inspirational message from our Minister! There is also a time for prayer, either by contemplating a series of slides shown on a screen, lighting of candles or personal prayer with one of our Prayer Partners.

Once a month on a Sunday evening at 6.30pm we have a Reflection Service with readings and recorded music to allow time for more personal reflection.

Rev. David Stretton welcomes Sue Gardner as an accredited Worship Leader

Ecumenical links in the village

The formation of Arnside Churches Together has helped to foster much stronger ecumenical links. Joint services are held on special Sundays such as Remembrance Sunday, Mothering Sunday and Pentecost. During the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, services are held in each of the three churches in the village and the Women’s World Day of Prayer  is celebrated each year in each church on a rota basis. In recent years, the Anglican Church has joined with the Methodist Church for our annual Covenant Service.

Joint Lent Groups have been held and on Good Friday, all the churches will join together for a Procession of Witness in the village, with short services at each of the churches based on the Stations of the Cross. On Easter Morning there is a joint Sunrise Service on Arnside Knott. There have also been joint study courses on topics such as different faiths and a study of  the Ten Commandments using material by the evangelist J John.
