Brief description of Arnside

Arnside is situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the banks of the Kent Estuary with stunning views across Morecambe Bay and the Estuary to the Lakeland hills. Rising above the village is Arnside Knott, National Trust land, and approximately 200m high with further dramatic views of the Cumbrian fells. The village has a population of about 3000 and supports a range of shops. There are both medical and dental practices in the village and most of the key trades have representatives in the immediate area. There is an excellent primary school with about 140 pupils and a choice of very good secondary schools in the area. The rail station in the village links Arnside with Barrow, Lancaster and Manchester Airport. At Lancaster, there are connections with Virgin Trains to the main West Coast route to London Euston. There is a regular bus service in and out of Kendal, the main town in the area. The monthly "Arnside Broadsheet" lists the activities of around 30-40 local sporting, social and cultural societies centred in the village or immediate vicinity.
